Wow! Wow! Wow!.. I’m very grateful for this privilege to write about this topic and I’m most grateful to the Holy Spirit for His leading. I would have loved to stay more on this topic but remember it’s a journey so I can always revisit it anytime I can. Falling in love with God is a deliberate and conscious work by dwelling on His word and getting to know Him more. You’ll only get to love someone deeply when you spend more time with the person and get to know his/her personality. Believe me, God is love, awesome, everything sweet. The more I behold His word, I see all that He is and I feel safe and secure. All I ever want to do is love Him with my entire being and I hope you feel the same way. That’s my testimony, I’ll love you to share yours in the comment section so I can know how far you’ve come with loving our Maker. The day you believed in His name, repented of your sin and gave your life to Christ, the love of Christ was shed abroad in your heart but you need to spend more time with Him for that love to grow and be rooted.
Romans 5:5 says; “And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us”. KJV
Now let me outline ways to love God;
-Accepting Him as your Lord and personal Savior. The Lord over your life, your essence.
-Knowing Him more through His word. Daily consumption of His word will make you see His awesomeness, He’ll reveal Himself to you for God is the Word. John 1:1; “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. Trust me, doing this will unveil alot of blessings that He has kept for you to reach out for, by faith. Glory!!
-Denying Self. One of our biggest challenges to loving God is “self”. As you dwell in His presence, you’ll understand that you weren’t made for yourself but for Him. He comes before every other thing. Just as He said in Matthew 6:33; “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.
-Keeping His commandments and doing His will. Some say no one can do that, yes that’s true but by strength shall no man prevail. (1 Samuel 2:9; “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail”.) The Holy Spirit is always there to guide our ways, total submission is all that is required.
-Loving your neighbor as yourself. I’ve kept this since the PT 1. This is very important, God lives in us as the Holy Spirit and He has made man in His own image and likeness. One way to know one who’s in love with God for by their fruits you shall know them, is the love He has towards his fellow man. I always say that man is the God we can see.
“And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these”.
If you’ve been following this topic you’ll know why it was referred to as the second. You may need to see the other posts to flow better. Mark 12:29-31.
-Fellowshipping with Holy Spirit. When you spend time with the Holy Spirit, He’ll teach you all things.
-Trust Him completely.
-Helping the needy. Jesus went as far as telling us that when we help the needy that we do it unto Him. If you love God, you’ll help definitely.
Matthew 25:35-40; “For I was hungry, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in……….
…..And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, In as much as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me”.
Proverbs 19:17; “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again”.
-Praise and thank Him for who He is.
-Daily remember His love and faithfulness.
It was indeed a journey, I hope this blesses you and inspires you. I love God and will forever do. Praise God!!!
I’ll be back with something new and interesting soon.
Until then, know your essence!!!
